The awards in actual order of finish – first and second places – will be announced at the annual Virginias AP Broadcasters Awards Luncheon on Saturday, Mar. 28, 2026, at Hotel Madison & Shenandoah Valley Conference Center, 710 S. Main St., Harrisonburg, Va.

Thirty-seven news organizations in Virginia and West Virginia submitted 598 entries in the contest, which featured news and sports stories from 2025. Please review the finalists and contact Heidi Brown (hbrown@ap.org) or 434-465-0285 by Monday, Feb. 23, to report any misspelled names, titles or other problems.

(NOTE: we do not add “staff” to any of the credits, and we don’t include station names or dates of newscasts or sporting events in the title of the entry).


Stations may publicize that they are finalists in the awards competition.


The VAPB is an independent association comprised of local members of The Associated Press, a not-for-profit news cooperative that represents thousands of newspapers and broadcast stations across the United States.
