The Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters is now accepting nominations to honor a Mountain State journalist with the West Virginia Lifetime Achievement Award for broadcast excellence.
Please consider recognizing a member of your team, someone who has made significant contributions to news reporting, management, or education in broadcasting for a minimum of 20 years in the West Virginia broadcast journalism community. The years need not be consecutive.
Please send nominations by Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, to Chris Yost (cyost@wdtv.com), Lifetime Achievement Award chair, with a letter detailing your nominee's background, and accomplishments and why he/she should win the award.
The award is contingent upon the recipient being able to attend the VAPB Awards Luncheon as our guest. This year’s event begins at 12 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 28, 2026, at the Hotel Madison in Harrisonburg, Va. A family member or colleague may accept the award on the recipient’s behalf if the award is given posthumously. If the winner cannot commit to coming, his/her nomination will be considered for next year’s Award.
Thank you!
